Owning your agents' memory beats renting it — but somebody still has to stand up the box, wire the tunnel, connect the calendar and get the access rules right. That's the part we do.
| Memaix, on your box | Hosted memory SaaS | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the data sits | Your disk, your backups, your jurisdiction. | Their infrastructure, their region, their retention policy. |
| History | A git repo. Diff any change, revert any conclusion, blame any line. | Whatever their UI chooses to show you. |
| Switching models | Change one line. The memory doesn't care which model reads it. | Usually tied to one vendor's assistant. |
| If they shut down | Nothing happens. It's running on your machine. | An export deadline and a migration you didn't plan. |
| Cost shape | A VPS. Flat, and it doesn't scale with how much you remember. | Per seat, per month, forever. |
| Setup effort | Real. Docker, DNS, a tunnel, OAuth for calendar and mail. | Sign up, click accept. |
That last row is the honest one — and the only one where the SaaS wins. So we removed it.
We provision the box or use yours, deploy the gateway, terminate TLS through a Cloudflare tunnel, and verify it end to end from a real MCP client. You get root, we get out of the way.
Calendar, mail, Nextcloud, GitHub, Stripe — connected with real API credentials rather than screen-scraping, and stored so no human ever pastes a token into a chat window.
Upgrades, key rotation, backup checks and someone to call when the tunnel drops at an inconvenient hour. Or a documented handover if you'd rather run it yourself.
Same calendar, same person who'd do the work. Pick a slot that suits you — you'll get a confirmation with a calendar invite and a join link straight away.
